Disrespectful and annoying.
I was literally hanging on to the lecturer’s every word. The topic was captivating and relevant. And the lecturer knew how to get his message across. Suddenly, there was a shuffling of feet and the slamming of the lecture theatre door. Two students had gone out in the middle of the lecture. My concentration was instantly broken. The lecturer could not remember where he had left off. The flow of the lecture had been spoiled.
I can never understand why some students choose to leave before the end of a lecture. Personally, I find it not only disrupting but downright annoying. If a person doesn’t want to come to a lecture in the first place, they should stay away. Some of us are here to study. And besides, lecturers are people we need to respect. It is the kinds of respect that is automatically due to them. I know there are geniuses out there who can pass even if hey don’t attend lectures. But for some, lecturers are the best way to understand their studies. It’s unfair on them to just walk out and in the process disrupt the lecture. That goes for the noisemakers too. You would think people should have left their high school mannerisms behind. A lecture is not the place for meaningless conversation. Noise making is disrespecting your lecturer and your peers. University is a place where some hope to begin the first mile towards their success in life. Let’s not make it difficult for them.
