In my law lectures, we have to answer questions on cases and submit them in class everyday we have a lecture. To be fair, that is really a tall order. I always find that the work is due before I have done it. So what do I do? Simply ask a friend of mine who loves his studies to let me copy his work. And when the work is required, I’ll have done it.
The powers that be call this plagiarism. It has very serious consequences. So serious that bone can be kicked out of the university. This term also applies to using sources in assignments and failing to acknowledge them. But the one I’m familiar with is that of copying another student’s work. The other day, I saw a bunch of BComm guys submitting work which had really been written by one of them. The rest had simply copied. Woe to them if thgey are found out. Anyway, it’s a dangerous practice. Some of us really read when exams loom. But others fall into a comfort zone. They get so used to plagiarism they forget to read. On the whole, plagiarism is not healthy. But we do it nevertheless. All this stuff is off the record of course.
